Al-makura Will Collaborate With FG In Fighting Insurgency The Nasarawa State Government has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government to fight insurgency. Gov. Tanko Al-makura made this known at the 40th anniversary celebration of the Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Mustapha Agwai, in Lafia on Saturday. Al-makura said the collaboration became imperative because of the security challenges facing the state and some part of the country. According to him, the activities of insurgents have negatively affected our lives and the socio-economic development of the country. “Peace is the panacea required for the development of any society. No society or nation can experience meaningful development in an atmosphere of rancor, violence and confusion. “I want to assure the people of my administration’s readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government, security agencies, traditional and religion leaders to fight insurgency in the country for the benefit of all,” Al-Makura said. He said the collaboration would ensure peaceful coexistence for speedy development to be achieved in the country. The governor expressed happiness that the people were celebrating the 40th year of Agwai, who was enthroned as the 16th Emir of Lafia in 1974. He said the emir had improved the lives of his subjects and others Nigerians with basic infrastructure facilities and the promotion of peaceful coexistence among the people in the state. Al-makura restated the state government’s determination to improve the lives of traditional rulers and people of the state through the execution of people-oriented projects. The governor called on Nigerians to embrace peace, tolerate one another, irrespective of ethnic, religion and political affiliation for the overall development of the country. Earlier, the Chairman of the Anniversary Central Planning Committee, Mr Ishaka Daudu, said the anniversary was to present a leader who transformed the lives of the people. Dauda assured the people of the state of the emirate council readiness to continue to promote peaceful coexistence among the people in the state and the country at large. The Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, a former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, and the Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anineh, were among the dignitaries at the occasion.
