Alerts for: Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick Warnings 3:50 PM AST Tuesday 16 December 2014 Rainfall warning in effect for: Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick Rain, heavy at times is expected. A low pressure system approaching from the Gulf of Maine on Wednesday will lie over southern Nova Scotia by early Thursday morning. Periods of rain will develop Wednesday afternoon along the Fundy coast. For Moncton and southeast New Brunswick periods of freezing rain will develop Wednesday evening but will change to rain for southern parts of that area by midnight. Over northern parts of that same area precipitation will change to snow at times heavy. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Rainfall Warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. You may tweet reports using the hashtag #NBStorm. 3:29 PM AST Tuesday 16 December 2014 Snowfall warning in effect for: Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected. A low pressure system approaching from the Gulf of Maine on Wednesday will lie over southern Nova Scotia by early Thursday morning. Periods of snow will begin late Wednesday afternoon and will persist into Wednesday night bringing 15 to 20 centimetres over much of southern New Brunswick. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
