All kids have it rough, and all kids are inclined to myopia, - TopicsExpress

All kids have it rough, and all kids are inclined to myopia, because every terrible thing that happens to them is—thanks to emotional and mental and physical development being gradual things—quite literally, the worst thing thats happened to them in their lives up to that point. But trans kids...trans kids often lose the bedrock upon which they stand, because instead of their families offering shelter from lifes storm, they choose to add to the sturm und drang. Addled by fear, simple ignorance, or the sway of Bronze Age precepts written half a world away, some parents are so desperate to fix their child that they destroy them—never seeing, never understanding (or even trying to understand), never supporting the person their child is, and will be. No matter how imperfect your child is, or how terribly embarrassing you might find it down at the country club, or the office, or the pool hall, or down at the plant, or Our Lady of Perpetual Judgement if they should discover your childs horrible secret, you can choose, right now, this very moment, to shove all of that bullshit to one side and love your kid. Right now. Love them, and cherish them, and let them know you SEE them. You HEAR them. You LOVE them. The real them. Some of us make it through the rough stuff on our own. Many of us dont. Some of us end up a little disconnected, a little broken, a little unwilling to trust or connect. A lot of us end up dead. I would ask you to have the courage to set aside whatever fears, or foiled ambitions, or irrational prejudices you have, and remember that this is your kid. Fifty percent you, fifty percent somebody else, and 100% their own amazing, wonderful, outstanding, incredible, WORTHY OF LOVE person. Your chick is meant to soar. Help him or her fly. Because the ground is hard and does not love them. wcpo/news/local-news/warren-county/leelah-alcorn-suicide-note-sparks-transgender-discussion
