All out to the Manchester demo today For a national day of strikes to save the NHS Defeat the government austerity plan Economic recovery, so say the government, is now on track. But their recovery is mass unemployment, destruction and privatisation of public services, precarious employment, zero-hour contracts, bed-room tax, NHS privatisation, low wages, slashed pensions, destitution and deaths. The working class is up for a fight. Strikes are spreading throughout the country and protests are growing. This rally of tens of thousands against the Tories is a demonstration of this will. Union leaderships don’t want to fight The union leaderships are hiding away from direct confrontation with the government. If they really wanted to lead the working class to victory, they chould have convened a general strike at the TUC congress, instead of voting for empty words about practicalities. But they only seek to undermine this government in waiting for a Labour victory in the 2015 elections. However Miliband has said many times that austerity will continue under a Labour government. Workers cannot wait for a solution that will not come! They need to fight now! For a National Day of Strikes We call on postal workers, firefighters, teachers, university and college staff, civil servants, railway workers and students to demand the organisation of a national day of strikes. If the CWU, FBU, NUT, UCU, NASUWT, Unite, Unison and GMB strike in the same period, against the same enemy, why not join the struggles into a single united fight and attack with strength. The rank and file should organise joint meetings to organise united actions in every city where strikes are happening. The unions could work together to take solidarity actions: join picket lines and make concrete steps towards a national day of strikes. We are the same working class, they are the same enemy! Let’s fight together and win this social war being waged against us.
