All the rain here has made our grass long and lush. Our steep slopes however, render it impossible to get to it while its still a decent cutting length - even with our 23hp lawn tractor. Im going to have to get out there today and hope that yesterdays heat and sunshine have dried things up to the point where Im not constantly getting stuck and/or bogged down. Since I always have a LOT to cut (and when conditions permit, I do a second cut to sweep the cuttings to the edges of the property) I try to save time by leaving the accelerator set at top speed. It used to be blast when I first started cutting here years ago, bouncing around over all the hills and gullies here - often to the point where Im nearly bounced off the seat. Henry, who handles the heavy gas powered trimmer/brush cutter, said to me one time, You really get a kick out of that, dont you?. I told him that its a lot like trotting a horse - except a horse would NEVER let you do anything stupid. Meanwhile, I think the neighbors have started taking bets as to when and where Im going to tip the damn thing over on myself. If Im not back in 3 hours - somebody call 911.
