Alright, heres the final determination.. From the best I can tell, weve had a multicast DDoS/virus thing going on today, bouncing around our network. Me and my guys spent all day (and much of tonight) chasing a bogus failing router, because Crawford kept shutting down. In the process of reprogramming it, the 3rd time, I noticed a number coming from McGregor, so, I naturally assumed thats where the problem was. Got home, only to find that number was pretty much, everywhere, in all our routers. The problem was that it wasnt coming from outside the network, so I couldnt just block it. Got a hold of my Router Doc who also works for a non-competing WISP and he told me they went down yesterday at 1 PM and didnt come back up until 4 AM, same kind of attack/problem. I have spent the last several hours watching packets/radios/ports.. found several customers radios that look like they are the originators. (Theyre shut down.) Im still seeing it, but not with the same frequency, so I dont know if Im finished or not, however... Service has been restored to all the towers/routers.. Everyone who should be back up, is. Ill keep at it, Ill know Im finished when I dont see the numbers anymore. By now, most of you should know me well enough to know, (thats a mouth full) IF I spent all day and most of the night.. had my guys come in today.. and Im just now getting it fixed at 12, this was a wicked deal. Ive gotten pretty good at spotting problems and this had me stumped. Honestly believed it was a power problem with the router. Enough your weekend! Thank you. JHMF
