Always double-check all measurements with the earliest available photo. For example, the photo being used and measured , above, is a copy of a copy of a copy (times who knows how many copies) and the barrel effect has made it very slightly broader in the middle than the original. We need to re-measure with a photo that is earlier generation, not a multi-copied jpg. Such a photo exists on the cover of Robert Grodens The Search for Lee Harvey Oswald which came from a camera before jpg use. The photo of that photo, which Im posting, is basically only a couple generations away from Grodens cover photo. Compare it with the jpg distortion that can be seen in the photo in the center..a jpg multi-generation example that, unhappily, Jack White used for measurements, and which, equally unhappily, is being used above in the cover photo for this group. This copy problem has plagued those who dont realize the barrel distortion can get worse with every jpg ;save. . Therefore, Im posting EXAMPLES here: (1) one from Dallas Police, not many jpg copies away from original....(2) the too-often copied extract from the arrest photo, which shows barrel effect (3) the groden face, which is from a screen print from the arrest photo and therefore also showing little distortion...what you can do is save and copy each photo and place them together in a MW or other program where you can then make all heads the same height exactly. You will then see that their widths will not be quite the same, and that measurements therefore can be distorted as well. Use the Groden or the DPD photo, and measure again. The 4th photo is from a YouTube film of Lee. It helps you recognize the true width of his face. We need rigor and accuracy.
