***An Eagle’s Eye View of Victory Camp*** 1 Apr 04 *3 days until the house* Al Udied, Qatar I got up around 0700 and threw some civies on (Spidey shirt, shorts and my camo Cons). Mike and I went to the chow hall for some breakfast. I was hungry and the food was good. Dave needs to wake up and go to the BX so he can get some clothes. I am going to take a shower and find a phone so I can call SG. She wanted me to let her know when I was safe and out of Iraq. We made our way to the BX and I picked up some munchies, a coin and a card for my wife. Dave, Ian and me ate BK for lunch then went to the recreation area to play some cards until I could call home. We played table soccer and a game of Spades. I finished up then headed over to the phone trailer to call SG. Jackson needed to call his wife for her birthday so he went with me. Kirstin was so relieved that I was out of Iraq. We were able to talk for awhile and I could hear Christopher in the background just rambling on. Quinn, Ian, Jackson and me went back to Camp Andy to get some pizza. All of us sat around and BS’d about all the crap we’d been through. War stories for life. Jackson and I played a couple rounds of pool and decided to call it a night. I still cannot believe we are out of Iraq and I get to see my family in a couple days. Not to sound cliché, but here goes, what a long strange trip it has been. Tomorrow around 1700 we are scheduled to be out front of our tent with gear ready to roll.
