An Undivided Heart by Pastor Andrew Vuksic Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. (Psalm 86:11) Psalm 86 is about David, and he was crying out for Gods help against the arrogant enemy attacks. Aware of his frailties and weaknesses, David laid his struggles before the Lord. Hear me, Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long. Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you. (Psalm 86:1-4 NIV) People were coming against David in a vicious way. His soul was full of trouble and his life seemed to be drawing to an end. His only hope was to be found in the Lord, his true source of strength. Although he realized that God owed him nothing, he nevertheless cried out to the Lord for mercy and grace. He trusted that the Lord was able to save him, no matter how difficult the enemies were making Davids life. Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. (Psalm 86:11 NIV) Do you see it? David prayed that he would have an undivided heart, one that would be completely loyal to the Lord. He didnt want to be half-hearted in his devotion to the Lord. Nor did he want to have a divided heart when it came to his trust in the Lord. He wanted an undivided heart that would bring glory to the Lord. Christian, how about you? When was the last time you prayed the same prayer David did? When was the last time you asked the Lord for an undivided heart that would be completely loyal to him? They will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me and that all will then go well for them and for their children after them. (Jeremiah 39:38-39 NIV) Todays Prayer: Dear Lord, turn to me and have mercy on me. Please give strength to your servant...please give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. For further reading: Psalm 86 Pastor Andrew Vuksic is an ordained Presbyterian Minister.
