An astounding happening at Beautiful - The Carole King Musical last night: Carole King surprised the cast on stage during the curtain call after seeing the show for the first time! The cast and audience went wild! She then joined them in the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS appeal, offering to sing Youve Got A Friend, right then, as an auction. Three winning $10,000 bids! $30,000. The song, sung three amazing times: solo, with the extraordinary Jessie Mueller and then one final time with the cast and audience. Out of this world!! Thank you, Carole King and the beautiful cast of Beautiful!
