An exciting new opportunity for film makers the globe over, - TopicsExpress

An exciting new opportunity for film makers the globe over, courtesy of my friend Nina Somera. SURGE, a consortium of aid agencies Christian Aid, Handicap International, Oxfam and Plan International is encouraging both budding and experienced film makers to submit their portfolios. This, as SURGE aims to produce a short film that documents personal stories around inclusive community-based disaster risk reduction (ICBDRR). Attached and pasted below are the call and the creative brief. ========================================================= CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST AMONG FILM MAKERS Deadline for proposals: 2 October 2014 Calling all film makers who would like to challenge their creativity in showcasing stories of persistence in advancing inclusive community-based disaster risk reduction (ICBDRR) and as a result, help save more lives and secure futures. We’d love to know how you would weave powerful stories of individuals and communities which seriously thought about the needs and abilities of women, children, persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples and those in remote communities --- or those who are often marginalized and rendered vulnerable when they prepared for disasters and embarked on climate change adaptation measures. We know of so many individuals and communities whose stories of ingenuity, stake-holding and partnerships simply have to be documented so that more would be inspired to assert their human rights, participate meaningfully in drawing up their community’s development, investment and contingency plans, and effect changes in our policies and practices as a country that ought to learn from the many disasters which hit us and indeed build back better. If you decide to accept this challenge and transform limitations into opportunities, send us a formal indication of your interest, along with your portfolio and links to samples of your work on or before 2 October 2014. Before you start writing, make sure that you have read the creative brief. The budget for this film is quite reasonable that we encourage both upcoming and more experienced film makers to take a chance. More details will be shared to three short-listed film makers. Send your expressions of interest to Nina Somera, [email protected] and icommittodrr@gmail or mail them to 4th Floor, 150 Corporate Center, 150 Panay Avenue, 1104 Quezon City, Philippines (Tel. +632 373-2167 loc. 204)
