An interesting day so far to say the least. So.Thursday night - TopicsExpress

An interesting day so far to say the least. So.Thursday night Brady shows us a bug bite he got but it wasnt too big...just the size of about a quarter to a .50 cent piece. Fast fwd to last night...after we get home from trick or treating he shows it to us and it is HUGE...6 inches all the way around in diameter. AND it has some sort of white ring on the edges. We know something wasnt right. He wasnt complaining it hurt and it only itched. Apparently he went to the nurse yesterday to get something on it...but that was the first I had heard of that at 9pm last night. We decided to let him sleep and see if it improved...we had no idea what it was. He wasnt complaining of it hurting or itching too much but it was warm to the touch. We called the doctor first thing this morning and got in to see her. Im VERY happy we made that call because it was more serious than I thought. He had an infection - Cellulitis. Only two options. Hospitalization or shots and the reaction to the shots have to be monitored for next 24 hours before he can start taking meds. Doctor said she thought he could get away with (for now) just shots since she happened to have the right shot available in her office (had to get two of them and Brady was NOT a happy camper). It really tears me apart to see him in pain. Now he got the shots and is taking a warm bath as suggested by her. He didnt get to do flag football this morning or be able to do his scheduled sleepover tonight w/ a friend because we have to monitor it. Doctor said he could get a reaction to the shots and if he does, then we have to take him to the pediatric ER. At least he can get out if he feels ok, so were going to try to get to a movie or something later on. I just feel so bad for the little guy and I am just floored this could have put him in the hospital. So...more updates later on. Hope everyone else has a good day!
