An investigation has commenced after an alleged stolen car crashed into a police car in Raymond Terrace last night. About 11:30pm, Sunday 13 July 2014, police were patrolling to Adelaide Street following reports of a stolen Holden Commodore had earlier crashed into a fence in Millers Forest. Police from Port Stephens Local Area Command responded to the incident and sighted the Holden Commodore on William Bailey Street, travelling in the opposite direction, however, the officers lost sight of the car. A further police car was driving on Adelaide Street. The Holden Commodore allegedly attempted to turn from Carpenter Street onto Adelaide Street and collided with the police car. The two male officers, Senior Constable and Constable, were injured as a result of the collision and were taken to John Hunter Hospital. The driver and passenger, both 16-year-old boys, sustained only minor injuries and did not require medical treatment. They were both arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station. They have since been released from custody as inquiries into the incidents continue. Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit conducted examinations of the scene. The two officers have minor injuries and are expected to be released from John Hunter Hospital today (Monday 14 July 2014).
