An update on blind Brenda (adopted Oct 2013) from Carolyn E. in Poughkeepsie, NY. She is, overall, well, with the caveat that she has glaucoma in both eyes and is receiving treatment that we hope will control it. She has become fast friends with three neighborhood dogs and very slowly is recognizing the placid nature of several others. Brenda has learned the layout of our yard; she loves cruising, nose to ground exploring every inch. She is able to go out, off lead, to enjoy the out-of-doors, and unerringly makes her way back to the door. We keep an eagle eye on her, just in case something goes awry and to be at the door, holding it open for her return. She is pictured with our beautiful Lily with whom she became fast friends. Sadly, our Lily passed away the day after Thanksgiving, succumbing to age (15) and cancer that grew huge within a few days. We are devastated, Brenda, too. It will be some time before we can entertain finding Brenda another companion. Meanwhile we enjoy Brenda and try to ease her loss with extra affection.
