And I started not to share this part of our Pioneer Cafe lunch conversation, but it is just too sweet not to: As Mother and I are eating lunch, I look across the table at her, and she has stopped eating and is looking right at me. She smiles and says, I am sitting here looking at you remembering so clearly the day you were born! (I was so shocked! Fifty-nine long years have passed, and shes remembering it now?) Her smile gets wider and she says, I remember looking at you and telling your daddy, I finally got my girl! (Hmmmm.... I was the second of four children? But, oh my goodness! To hear my mother say that touched my heart in a very deep place!) Giggling a little bit, I responded, Mother, I havent always done everything right. Are you still glad you got this girl? And this is her reply: Well, Honey, if you never made any mistakes, you would have been perfect, and no one is perfect in this world.... And, yes, I am so glad I have my girl.... And those of you who know me, may wonder how she could still think that! Lol! But I can honestly say that I had a very hard time keeping the tears in my eyes during the rest of our lunch! Allergies, you know?
