And a Russian friend asked me, "and what do you think about Syria? - TopicsExpress

And a Russian friend asked me, "and what do you think about Syria? Who is right - Putin or "union of 8 countries?" I replied... First of all, I have no trust in the group of 8. Their economic prescriptions are bankrupting the masses. I do not trust Putin. He has his own agenda and I do not believe it bode well for you or me. As for Syria, there are no innocents, save the hapless people caught in the middle of the two extremes. In Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the Sunni elite are taking advantage of a poor, Shiite majority. Iraq did too, under Saddam. In Syria there is a Shiite elite who had been taking advantage of a poor, Sunni majority. The Syrian rebels are not nice either. Do not think that if the rebels were to win, and eventually they will, that Syria will be any better off. In the meantime, The Saudis and the US are squaring off in a proxy war against Iran and Russia and the ignorant Syrians are taking the heat. This is not a war between "Syrians," however, it is a war between Shiites and Sunnis that just happened to start in Syria this time. It is spilling over into all the other countries because there is some sort Sunni/Shiite conflict in every country over there. So in answer to your question, neither are right and the Syrian people are caught in the middle.
