And now, some Fun Facts about Walt Disney: (1) His original name for Mickey Mouse was Mortimer Mouse, but his wife said that sounded too pompous and suggested the name Mickey. (2) When Disney first announced that he intended to make a feature-length, animated film about Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, many insiders called it Disneys Folly and said it would bankrupt his studio. (3) Disney never graduated from high school, dropping out at age 16 so he could try to join the U.S. Army, but got rejected for his age. Instead, he drove an ambulance in Europe for the Red Cross (he lied about his age so he could get in). (4) Mr. Disney himself served as voice actor for Mickey Mouse for 20 years. (5) He forbad his employees from having moustaches to maintain a clean-cut image for his company (although he had one all his life).
