But for some, creepy crawlers are a normal, nutritious part of the daily diet. Howie Severino and his documentary team journey to Bukidnon where the Talaandig find insects in trees and inside rotting logs, and fry or roast them to sweet succulence. Howie and his team partake of this strange cuisine, and live to tell the story. Insects are actually eaten widely in many places around the world where these are known as a rich, clean and safe source of protein. In the Philippines, they have become objects of disgust. But they may hold the key to solving malnutrition and even hunger, especially for people struggling to afford increasingly pricey normal food.
