Anne and I went down to Warrnambool for the funeral of a railfan - TopicsExpress

Anne and I went down to Warrnambool for the funeral of a railfan friend Greg OFlynn. It meant leaving home just before 5.30am to catch an electric train into Spencer Street to conmect with the morning Warrnambool Passenger train form Platform 4 there. After the funeral we were dropped off at the old Fletcher Jones factory which now serves as an Antique Market. THe FJ factory always had very well presented gardens and they are now being maintained by volunteers apparently. There were many things there of interest such as the olf Ferris car radio from the days before transistors and other miniature electronics and an old Commonwealth Bank Money Box, just lkike the one that we all had when we were young, Anne tried on an old hat, but we ended up not buying anything. We walked back into town past the old T&G Building, a real Warrnambool landmark on the corner of Liebig and Lava Street but our immediate destination was Macs Snacks , a brilliant 1940s style diner/café in Liebig Street. My mother Beryl worked here during the 50s after I was born and to this day I cant go to Warrnambool without dropping in for a meal. Try Macs Snacks out when visiting Windy Warrnambool next time guys. :) Steve Holmes.
