Answers to yesterdays quilting questions. Im from Syracuse, Utah. Im a retired art teacher and I love designing quilting patterns with lots of intricate detail. My advice to beginners would be to get a 45 x45 piece of soft material and do a simple crisscross pattern from corner to corner. Use this to get used to the thimble and a couple prof quilting directions and angles. Then do the same thing with overlapping circles. This will help you develop the skills you need to go different directions. Invite a friend over and learn together. Check out Pats Aurfil thread video on threads. I learned things I did not know this morning. I will be changing my quilting thread. Hand quilting is a disappearing art. Develop this new skill. You will love it.
