Anzhi star demanding mega money for Chelsea move Date: 16th August 2013 at 9:00 pm Written by Rebecca Knight The Metro have stunned us today in the Football Transfer Tavern after they claimed that Samuel Eto’o was prepared to drop his wage demands to join Chelsea – to £300,000 per week. Given that the forward would already cost the Blues £5 million in addition to these astronomical wages, as one of our punters quips, the move looks set to be somewhat of a none starter. Whilst Jose Mourinho knows full well he is in need of a forward, the man will not be held to ransom and, no matter how highly he rates his former forward, would not allow such huge wages – and the disruption they would subsequently cause the squad. This is of course bad news for Manchester United and David Moyes, as Chelsea may well now up their pursuit of Wayne Rooney and could well return with another bid for the forward, who seems to be injured when it comes to playing for his club only. Jose Mourinho may rate Romelu Lukaku highly, but knows that another top forward is needed and is not willing to gamble on either of Fernando Torres or Demba Ba – the latter of whom he would be quite happy to see leave the club this summer. Now it seems the Eto’o move is off the cards, yet Mourinho has been handed a boost with the news that Sami Khedira has asked to leave Real Madrid and is eyeing a move to link up with the ‘Happy One’ at Stamford Bridge before the season starts.
