Apres Commencement photos. HUZZAH! To the December graduates of the University of Alabama. HUZZAH! I have always wanted you to admire my regalia. HUZZAH! I am wearing a masters robe with the tell-tale sewn sleeve, an opening at the elbow. Story goes that back in the day such an arrangement allowed the scholar ready concealment of the easily absconded fruits and vegetables of the market place. The hood is borrowed and not accurate. I am displaying colors for a Doctorate in Education from the University of Alabama. It should be white for Arts and Sciences, trimmed in old gold and black, the academic colors of The Johns Hopkins University, an MA in The Writing Seminars. Hopkinss athletic colors are black and blue which would actually be a better choice and a more accurate representation for the academic training one receives in the seminars of The Johns Hopkins University. The bow tie is a wool one. The cap, the medieval precursor of the hipster pork pie, speaks for itself. HUZZAH! Let me just put in a word here at the end. I am still looking forward to the day I receive an honorary degree, and I can really stock up on the outfit (Im looking at you IVY Tech, Fort Wayne). Reversed colors, striped fur sleeves, pleats and pleats, facing, piping, and one of them soft crushed velvet hats! A boy can dream cant he?
