Arabian Pears with Honey and Vanilla Bean. My children just came from Israel to live with me permanently a few days ago, And I was blessed enough for them to bring me a 10 gallon jug of Jerusalem Honey and 5 pounds of Arabian vanilla bean pods So.. I included that here in my recipe!! Thank you to my children for the ingredients for this recipe. I am blessed to have you all. Directions: 10 Pears peeled and deseeded, and cut into quarters 2 Cups of Honey 2 Cups of Sugar 4 Cups of Water 2 Vanilla Bean pods, cut in half (4 pieces) Prepare canner, jars and lids. In a large sauce pot, combine water, honey, sugar, and vanilla pods (Split to make sure the vanilla comes out into the syrup.) Boil on high for 2-3 mins. Then turn down to a simmer for 15 mins to allow the vanilla to infuse into the syrup. Next add the pears, simmer 10 more minutes. With a slotted spoon, take out the pears and place into hot jars, ladle hot syrup over them, tighten lids girl tight not man tight and process in boiling water bath for 20 mins. You may need to add lemon juice or fruit fresh to the epars to keep them from discoloring before you can cook them. ***** NOTE - THESE ARE SO GOOD!!!!!!!!! - I like to serve these warm.
