Hawking says that success in developing a more intelligent AI than human intelligence could potentially mean the end of the human race and says that the event might be the last event we ever experience. Some leading thinkers and scientists in the technology field agree with this assessment, but some take the idea a step further and say that AI will, indeed, most likely lead to the complete extinction of humans.
