Are you an avid bird watcher? With fall migrations about to start, you may want to plan a trip to Blue Wall Preserve in northeast Greenville county. The TNC-managed preserve is part of a mosaic of protected parcels that cover approximately 20,000 acres within the Southern Appalachians. The preserve was designated as an Important Bird Area by the Audubon Society; 114 different bird species have been observed on the property, which also boasts a variety of natural plant communities, open-water lakes and a majestic waterfall. SC TNC helps to keep the Preserve in tip-top shape by controlling invasive plant species and partnering with the Palmetto Conservation Foundation to maintain public use hiking trails. What a perfect weekend getaway for fall!
