Army Goodwill School, Hajin reopened after 3 months Srinagar, Oct 23: (GNS) After a gap of three months Army Goodwill School of Hajin, Bandipora was reopened amid rousing welcome from the local populace. Few classrooms of the school had suffered damage after some elements set school on fire on July 1 this year following the protests against killing of two locals on June 30. According to local news gathering agency GNS, Brigadier 3 Sector (BGS), Brij Gopal on Wednesday inaugurated Army Goodwill School in presence of locals, parents and students of the area. Brigadier while talking to GNS said that students had suffered a lot after some miscreants put the school on fire. “Some of the classes were held in open since then,” he said, adding, “After the continuous requests from senior locals and parents of students, we approached GOC 15 corps to look into the matter who ordered its immediate renovation.” He said it was a matter of future of about 400 students who are enrolled in this school, whose studies were hit hard from past few months due to the unfortunate incident. “But timely renovation overcame all such apprehensions,” Brigadier said, adding that miscreants who did this act are the enemies of peace. “We are extremely happy and thankful to authorities over their timely action to repair the damage as winter session was also approaching,” Abdul Majid Parray, a parent of a student told GNS. He said we should separate education system and schools from politics. “In Kashmir, the situation can turn volatile anytime and whatever be the situation, the schools, as seats of learning should not be targeted at all,” Majid added. The parents who were present during the occasion also voiced the same concern not to attack educational institutions, “As, after all, it is students who are made to suffer through all angles,” they held. Pertinently, two local youths of Markundal area were allegedly killed by forces on June 30, 2013 following which protests erupted in the area in which Army Goodwill School was attacked by unruly mob. Police had registered FIR 6/2013 under sections 436, 307, 336, 353, 427, 188, 149 RPC and had arrested 5 accused in this regard. (GNS)
