Army police faceoff: Arrested army men released hours after their arrest Sonamarg: In a surprising move, police released two army personnel allegedly involved in the attack on cops, civilians and police station Sonamarg hours after their arrest. A case vide FIR vide number 31/2014 under section 307,392,353,147,148,452 stands registered against High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) Nilgrath army personnel for attacking cops, civilians and snatching a rifle from the police station Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday. Police sources said that the two army personnel who were arrested by police were released on Friday evening after the HAWS authorities assured that all the ‘guilty’ army personnel would surrender before the police on Saturday. The two army personnel who have been released were identified as S.D.Langu (E910178) and Harmeet Singh (15341349). A police official on condition of anonymity told CNS that on Saturday morning when a police team led by Assistant Sub Inspector Abdul Ahad went to HAWS training camp to make the arrests of the five more accused army personnel, the authorities allegedly they did not cooperate with the police as a result the police returned empty handed. “Police team from Sonamarg police station had gone to HAWS camp to arrest the five accused army personnel, but the authorities did not hand over the guilty army men,” he said adding that HAWS authorities had assured that all the army man involved in rampage would surrender before the police. Police sources told CNS that HAWS authorities are in mood of compromise but the police especially those cops who suffered injuries in army rampage are adamant to book all the guilty army personnel.
