Arsenal transfer round-up: Suarez, Fabregas, Higuain, Gervinho, Santos, Williams, Cesar, Bendtner, Chamakh, Campbell By mezos69 July 12, 2013 arsenal Ashley Williams Higuain Nani Suarez Williams 3 Votes As it’s Friday here is a round up of this weeks transfer news related to Arsenal: As has been widely reported Arsenal had a £30 million bid/enquiry rebuffed by Liverpool and when asked about Arsenal’s enquiry Suarez stated ” It’s nice to know some clubs still like me” when asked on tour for his views on Suarez Wenger said ““Suarez? As you all know, the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I am not going to answer that question.” Newspapers such as the Metro report we will go back in with a second bid in the region of £36 million pound. News of a bid for Suarez has met a mixed response from Arsenal fans with no-one doubting his quality just some his morality. Suarez supposedly wants to leave Britain and has his eyes set on Madrid but with Madrid spending £65 million on Isco and Illarramendi it’s still to be seen if they can afford another big outlay without selling. This leads us onto Higuain as I reported yesterday there are numerous reasons for the hold-up which include Madrid changing the goal posts and now wanting more money, Madrid wanting to keep Higuain if possible as it looks like there not getting another striker and waiting for the domino effect from other deals. Read more here Fabregas- @GeoffArsenal stated that there is still some interest, I would personally be surprised if Barcelona let him go as well as Thiago but @GeoffArsenal knows his stuff. Arsenal are very interested and Fabregas has been frustrated by a lack of playing time recently but news on this transfer is limited except for the report that we have a £35 million buy back clause. Cesar has recently been reported to be joining Napoli on a one year loan deal with an option to buy but Napoli have just spent £4.5 million the young Brazilian keeper Rafael and as such are unlikely to want another keeper which would leave the door open for Arsenal to potential swoop in. Arsenal were interested earlier in the summer and Cesar has stated numerous times he wants to stay in London so there still may be potential though @GeoffArsenal has said Wenger is quite happy with Wojiech and Fabianski if he can’t find a keeper he wants. Arsenal have been linked with a £8 million for Nani, I doubt this for numerous reasons. 1. We are linked with him every transfer window so I feel it is just a regurgitated story 2. why would we Arsenal sign someone who isn’t good enough for Man United were better then that 3. We have a lot of wingers and some good young wingers coming through 4. We have more problem errors i.e Striker, GK, CDM, CB that need seeing to first With Vermaelen coming back to pre-season with a back injury it has been reported by Skysports that Arsenal have gone back in for Ashley Williams after having a difference of £2 million in valuation when prior discussions had taken place. Vermaelen injury leaves Arsenal with only Koscielny and Mertesacker as recognised established CB and Arsenal have been interested for a while so there is a high chance this may be pushed through now. All seems to have gone quiet on the Fellaini front, his release clause is active for a while longer but Arsenal have cooled their reported interest as they seem to be going after other targets. They had a £20 million bid rejected for Lars Bender which seems weird as Fellaini release clause is £23 million. I would hope we would sign him but time will tell. In terms of departures: As was stated yesterday here, SkyItalia are reporting that Roma bid £2.5 million for Arsenal but Arsenal want closer to £7 million. They stated Roma are expected to come back in for a second bid and seeing as Gervinho was left out of the Arsenal squad for an unspecified “sickness” it seems there may be truth to this. Gervinho has had a frustrating time since he joined Arsenal and earlier this summer said he was happy here but if he decided to leave there would be numerous suitors. I feel (and hope) Arsenal may reach an agreement somwhere in the middle as it is hard to see Gervinho playing much next season as a striker or as a winger. Bendtner- His wage demands seemed to have scupper his move to Eintracht Frankfurt, there are other suitors but we have been in this situation before where Bendtner has stated he has numerous option only for Arsenal to have to ship him off on loan whilst paying part of his wages. He has become a burden and for a player who claims he could be The greatest striker that ever lived (TGSTEL) he seems to be content to pick up a wage and waste his talent. Chamakh- Like Gervinho has been left behind from the Asian Tour, this could be seen to indicate he may leave but in reality he stayed here for the first 6 months of last season and rarely made the first team. Levante have been reported to be interested but that seems to have been a rumour made up by @Arseblog to test the media as they regularly steal information off this website with little to no credit. Like Bendtner clubs have come in for him in the past but his wages are always a stumbling block, Bourdeaux have said in the past they would take him back and I think we would all hope they do. Santos- as stated by Arseblog here Flamengo are reportedly interested in Brazil. He impressed when he went on loan to Gremio and made it back into the Brazilian squad briefly, his time at Arsenal is effectively over with Monreal and Gibbs ahead of him in the pecking order and his defensive capabilities found wanting in the Premier League. Like the others he has been left off the Asia Tour despite the fact we have only sent one LB as Monreal is on extended leave. Joel Campbell- Has been linked away from Arsenal all summer, Real Betis supposedly wanted him to return but could not find an agreement on a transfer or loan fee with Arsenal. It is likely he will go on loan again and has been linked to Crystal Palace so that Wenger could take a closer eye at his development. Park- Currently doing his one month mandated summer military service he is expected to have his contract terminated as he has been seen to be the weirdest Arsenal transfer ever, stolen from Lille at the last minute only to never be given an opportunity to show if he actually had any talent. Little known fact Arsenal managed to write off the taxes due to HMRC in one year as they showed that his value was now nothing. What are your views on the potential comings and goings at Arsenal? -Suarez or Higuain? - Do we need Williams seeing as when all our CB are fit we will have 4 topnotch CB and when that last happened Djourou got no game time? - Gervinho should he stay or go, if so how much do you think we can get for him? - Fellaini or Bender? - Are we actually interested in Nani, if so do you want him?
