Art & Imagination The Fourth Pyramid by Jesse Bransford (2013), Dimensions variable, Tempera paint on wall and floor, panels and paper. The Fourth Pyramid is inspired by six spiritual traditions, from Tudor-era ceremonial magic, Shaivite (Agamic) iconographies and Islamic mysticism, Kabbalah, Neoplatonism and Tibetan Buddhism. The colourful mandala, called yantra in Hindu which means machine or engine, is a kind of rotating wheel designed to bring energies from the celestial realm into the earthly realm. Yantra is derived from the root –yam which is related to ‘control’ or ‘containment’. This is what the yantra basically comprises: a machine running by means of captured energy. A minimal structure that supports maximal movement without ever ending and never running out of energy. A vortex of transformation absorbing what must return to darkness and reviving what must see the light in a spiraling cycle. The installation also includes three murals, which seem to be more simple than the yantra. The spectator or rather participant decides how to decipher their interrelatedness and dynamics. One mural depicts sigils showing planetary magical symbolism and energies. The planets visible in the sky relate to the days of the week, which are conceived as having different personalities and qualities, Venus for love and beauty, Jupiter for leadership and luck, Mercury for trade and communication etc. Another mural shows talismans corresponding to spirits, angels and demons contained within the planets. The personification of these energies into beings and visible objects or shapes gives our being a more direct interface to interchange light. Talismans are born from numbers brought to specific arrangements and resulting in a living grid known in Antiquity as ‘Kameas’. The grid generates more numbers and more relations between them and binding language, speech, form and numbers all connected to the energy which because of them becomes harnessed. Each Kamea relates to a planet hence day of the week. And each day of the week corresponds to a particular energy. #Art #Magic #Kabbalah FREE Download! - The *Hermetically Open Guide*, click here: bit.ly/HermeticallyOpen
