Artword Artbars 5th anniversary celebration show really had a sense of great occasion about it. The house was overflowing for most of the night and the fine performances i saw were introduced with testimonies of how much Artword Artbars stage has helped artists to hone their craft. Clearly, beyond being Hamiltons most unique bar and arts event venue, Artword Artbar is a well loved all-inclusive community hub for creative endeavor and artistic enterprise. It was very encouraging to see how many people showed up both to perform and to enjoy the performances. Dave Pomfret, hosted with his customary debonair flair. Judith Sandiford and Ronald Weihs, were busy all night doing bar as well as stage duties, and, as usual, still finding time to chat with their many friends. I went up near the end and opened up with Misery Rime, (2014 update) and it was a blockbuster! By the time i hit Color TV, the audience was already chanting the punchline with me, so we did Heaven is a state of Mind then yanked the chain together to end off my set. I also made sure to acknowledge that Misery Rime and ColorTV were two of the many poems that had been honed into near perfection over the four years of PoeMagic @ Artword Artbar. Significantly; Misery Rime and ColorTV were first drafted in Kingston, JA, WI, but are, in many important ways, products of Hamilton, ON, CA, NA. If we extrapolate the idea of postal coding well end up with E, for the place where all of us were born (as far as i know :3 ) planet Earth. :3 After my set, there was some serious finger-snapping,feet-shuffling, ear-tingling, body-vibrating, soul-refreshing piano playing, and then some glorious guitar playing, and singing. We closed out the night in harmonious chorus, all of us in the still almost packed house, joining in on a spirit-stirring rendition of Leonard Cohens Hallelujah!
