Arunachal Pradesh is special to me: Dalai Lama Tawang Monastery commemorate 55th year of His Holinesss arrival in India Mundgod, Karnataka Dec 27: While speaking at an event to commemorate the 55th year of His Holiness arrival and first preaching at Tawang monastery in 1959, XIV Dalai Lama said that Arunachal Pradesh was special to him. You should not only preserve but also promote your age old culture and tradition advised His Holiness while recollecting his journey to India through Tawang and West Kameng districts in Arunachal Pradesh. He said that he was ready for any support from his side. The event was organised by the Tendhon Culture Preservation Society of Tawang monastery today to mark the day at Gaden Jangtse Monastery. The function was conducted on the sidelines of Lamrin Preaching of His Holiness, which was attended by a large number of dignitaries, monks and nun and devotees from across the world. The legislators of Tawang and West Kameng districts and Abbot of Tawang monastery Guru Tulku presented a souvenir to His Holiness the Dalai Lama to mark the historic occasion. His Holiness expressed his pleasure over the gesture from the leaders of Arunachal Pradesh and the Union MoS as well as the Government of Karnataka for the help and support to the Tibetans. Addressing the gathering the Union MoS for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju thanked His Holiness for his kind gesture towards the people of the State of Arunachal Pradesh. We might have lost Tibet but we have the Dalai Lama said Rijiju while ensuring all out efforts and assistance to His Holiness and his people in India. In his speech, Pema Khandu, Minister UD, Tourism, Art & Culture, who is also the chief patron of Tendhon Culture Preservation Society said that the people of Mon Region of Arunachal Pradesh were fortunate to have been blessed by His Holiness with his first ever preaching in exile at Tawang monastery 55 years ago in 1959. While hailing His Holiness as the apostle of peace and a spiritual leader of foremost order in the world the Minister also commended his advice for rationale and scientific analysis of Buddhist religious scriptures. He read out the message of Chief Minister Arunachal Pradesh Nabam Tuki sent for the occasion. Sikyong of Central Tibetan Administration Dr. Lobsang Sengey, Minister for Tourism & Higher Education of Karnataka R.V. Deshpande also spoke on the occasion while Home Kalon, Central Tibetan Administration Gyari Dolma was also present in the function. The Arunachal Pradesh team included Chairman DoKA Jambey Wangdi, Dy. Speaker T.N. Thongdok, Parliamentary Secretaries Jambey Tashi, Phurpa Tsering, Kumsi Sidisow MLAs Tsering Tashi, P.D. Sona, ZPC Tawang Jambey Tsering, ZPMs, officers and other public leaders.
