As Christmas fast approaches for another year One thinks of those - TopicsExpress

As Christmas fast approaches for another year One thinks of those less fortunate than self with cupboards bare; Those deprived of a home and something to eat, Others starved of company with whom to hold, share and greet, On this, arguably the most family-orientated, yet oft sadly-commercialised, time of the year. As another year draws fast draws to a close And another twelve months take flight, One thinks of those walking alone in darkness Indifferent to, or ignorant of, the Christmas message Of Jesuss birth and Christ being the true and lasting light. Surrounded by others and yet drowning in sin The lonely sinner cries out from the deep Help Me; Save Me from a mind or a soul trapped within; Separated from others and from God above In being chained to sin rather than liberated in, or to, love. Not for the sinner lost in space, The sense of love and warmth one feels from knowing Gods protecting and uplifting arms forever growing Around one, to shield one from harm and danger from without, Ander under one too to disperse all inner-feelings of hate, hurt and doubt. What, then, have you to give to the poor, The blind and the deaf who claim they cannot take anymore? Is Advent not a time to fill them afresh With a sense of purpose, and equip them with new clothes in which to dress, In order to go to the ball and join in the celebration That God loves us all equally be we young or old, black or white, Male or female, gay or straight, and from whatever nation. Hence, as we join with one another, May each of us implore the Holy Spirit (also known as the Comforter) To come and fill our hearts anew, And afford us the words to say and the will to do All which is necessary to lead ones fellow man to love and to know That Christ alone is the way, the truth and the life In whom one should walk and with whom one should go. © CHRISTOPHER LUKE Wherever you are, and whatever you are doing, this Christmas, I wish you a peaceful but joyous Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year, as we remember the words of the prophet Isaiah “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” immortalised by the music of George Frederick Handel and sung by the choristers of King’s College Cambridge; see https://youtube/watch?v=LFBIJgkj_-g
