As Governor condoles with family of Dr.Wahab Dosunmu. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Monday joined other prominent Nigerians to mourn the passing on of a Chieftain of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) and Second Republic Minister, Dr. Wahab Dosunmu, describing the deceased as a passionate defender of human rights and democratic governance which informed his principled stand on the June 12, 1993 mandate of late Chief Moshood Abiola. In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Hakeem Bello, Governor Fashola noted that Dr Dosunmu was a man who contributed his quota to his State and nation as an astute politician, brilliant technocrat and rights activist adding that he would be missed by all. Describing the passage as “a great loss, not only to the Dosunmu Family but to the whole of Nigeria”, Governor Fashola declared, “Dr Dosunmu was a distinguished politician and a brilliant man who made a great contribution to the development and awareness of human rights in this country”. “He was one of the most passionate defenders of the June 12th Mandate of Chief Moshood Abiola. This is a period of time which, perhaps, best sums up the drive and passion for Justice which defines Alhaji Dosunmu’s character. It is a trait which he transferred to the Senate at the return of democracy in the country”, the Governor said. Governor Fashola, who prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of Dr. Wahab Dosunmu, counseled the family to take solace in the fact that their grief is shared by many others across the country and beyond who knew the notable politician. He also prayed the Almighty Allah to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
