As I peruse my timeline, viewing the automated highlights generated by Facebook, and reflect on my year in 2014, in many ways our lives are reflective of ESPN. In that, we showcase the highlights and good moments of our lives on social media, but they fail to account for the struggles it took for us to shine. Many of us suffer from the ESPN syndrome because we only showcase the sweet, sensational moments–highlighting our comebacks, but not our setbacks; our successes, but not our struggles; our love affairs but not our losses and anguish. Dont be afraid to tell the whole story; itll set somebody else free. Somewhere I read: We overcome by the blood of the lamb & the word our of testimony.
