As I was mowing the lawn today, a line from an old movie came to mind. A young man was pledging for a fraternity. As one of the "big brothers" was paddling him, each time he was hit he said, "thank you sir, may I have another!" Most of us have heard some of the stories of painful and disgraceful things that are done during this whole process. Yet, many endure these types of things just to be initiated or accepted into various groups or organizations. I was reminded of how quickly we are ready to complain or turn our backs on God when hard times or suffering comes. However, in Romans 8:17-18 we are told that if we are to share in His glory, we must also share in His sufferings. Furthermore, the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that shall be revealed in us.
