Grieving the Holy Spirit - Eph 4:30 We can grieve or offend the Holy Spirit by things we do and the things we say. 2. Quenching the Holy Spirit - 1 Thes 5:19 Quenching means to extinguish. This is anything that puts the Fire out, or stops the Holy Spirit from moving. Ministers can quench the Holy Spirit by not allowing Him to move or stopping Him from moving during a service. Christians can also quench the Holy Spirit by not yielding to His leadings and promptings. 3. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit - Mark 3:29 This could be to compare the work of the Holy Spirit to the work of the devil. The Bible is clear that there are eternal consequences for this sin, yet is committed by many Ministers and Christians around the world every day. James 3:1 shows that Ministers will be subjected to a greater judgement. We must approach the things of God with a godly fear and a reverence. As I teach people around me If you dont understand it, its best not to say anything and live in peace with that. That is not to say you can not bring correction. But, make sure you have revelation and understanding of Scriptures, lest you ignorantly proclaim a work of God is the work of Satan. Remember, everything the Holy Spirit does falls within the confines of the Scripture and it will always bring glory to Jesus! 1 Cor 2:14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
