As Promised, here are our 9 finalist with a short story as to why they have been nominated. ( in no particular order) Steve Hayes Steve was Nominated by his daughter Vashti for being a brave and inspirational man, for looking after and changing his life for her. My Dads partner passed away in 2005 & then in 2006 my mother passed away, he moved to Eastoft to look after me so my life was kept as normal as possible, He completely changed his life to benefit me. Then a few year later at the age of just 20 i was diagnosed with Breast cancer, my dad has been there for me 100% he made what could have been a very difficult time Bearable. Ethan Bettany Ethan was diagnosed testicle cancer last year at the age of just 16, he under went operations and chemo, and thankfully is now in remission.. Ethan also raises funds for teenage cancers and goes to schools and talks about his experience and explain how important it is to check yourselves and shout if in doubt! Dealing with testicle cancer at such a young age with a positive attitude is truly amazing!! Adi Sherwood Adi is the backbone and heart of Crowle Colts. He gives up a tremendous amount of his free time to support all the childrens teams in Crowle. He goes above and beyond and the children, all love and respect him. Without these teams the children of Crowle would have little to do as we have no leisure centre to entertain them. He not only trains his own team he supports all the teams managers and without him Crowle Colts simply would not exist. Lisa Stainton Lisa has been extremely poorly starting with a chest infection to Pneumonia and virtual full organ shut down. She was transferred to Leicester for life saving Echmo treatment and spent many months recovering, Lisa got Septicemia & lost digits & hands& feet!! Lisa now has to have Dialysis at scunthorpe until a transplant is available. Karen Bettany For Dealing with Every mothers nightmare in such an amazing way. The positivity and support surrounding the dreaded cancer is always what is needed, Karen had her hair shaved off to raise funds for teenage cancer. Julie Read Wow what Julie has gone through but what she has done for others is truly amazing. Julie has been nominated for all the outstanding work that she does for the community, the list is endless, including her work with daisy, local councilor, Ealand park to mention just a few. Without Julies commitment to her volunteer work the community would not have the wonderful amenities it has. Rachel Hurst, Rachel was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011 when she was just 12. Rachal had surgery & radiotherapy and has worked hard to recover and get back to school. She has always smiled and never complained no matter how ill she has been, she is my little star! Rachel has just had another treatment Stereotactic radio surgery (gamma Knife) results from this will not be for 3 month. Keira Yates Kira is known as the broken Doll, she suffers from Apert Syndrome, caused by chromosomal disorder. Was born with malformations of the skull, face, hands and feet Has undergone 14 major operations to have her body re-built Had no knuckles, fingers or toes, but has now had digits created Has metal bars fitted in her neck to hold the rest of her body in place Mother: She gets the mickey taken out of her because of her looks, but she has learned to deal with it. She doesnt let anything stop her. Amber Ghag Tiny little girl Amber fight a massives battle against terrible illness, she is just two years old. Ambar has leukemia she was diagnosed late last year after being unwell for quite sometime. She is now under sheff child hosp for treatment will take approx 2 yrs. There will be a winner to each categories and 2 runners up!! Male, Female & child. Winners will be announced on the night. Although they are all winners every person that was nominated. If you nominated and did not get through to the finals please please nominate them again for next years Awards.
