As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, in English Traits, “The view of nature held by any people determine all their institutions.” We have created a myth that we are predators; there’s an extremely important implication to that. Rather than the view that our natural state is of noncausal love, noncausal compassion, noncausal joy, contentment, and feeling our unity, the myth that we are cruel, violent predators fuels our self-concept of who we are, along with our tendency to wage war. That’s the ego speaking. That’s what Emerson is talking about. When we create institutions that promote competition, cruelty, materialism, separation, and survival-of-the-fittest mentality. Our institutions represent and promote an ethical anesthesia. It isn’t all from what we eat, but what we eat comes out of this illusionary cultural myth based on a sense of separation and lack of under- standing that we are one vibrational DNA field manifesting as slightly different—but not by very much—variations of the DNA. Part of the creation of a Culture of Life and Liberation is to give up the idea that we are predators.
