As a former professional cyber sportsman I highly disagree with some points of this article. The authors cannot grasp the intense and complicated background of many mentioned settings. Examples of situations where the alleged violations of IHL took place were completely taken out of the context. For instance, in Crysis 2, there is an alien invasion taking place (hopefully one can fit it into the IAC framework), and the protagonist is fighting on the side of humanity (as in US Army as usual), therefore his attacks on the human medical units will not be covered by IHL, but would rather be subjects to the domestic criminal law. Furthremore, I highly doubt that the genocidal alien stormtroopers, zombified minions in exosceletons deprived of their personality or humanoid combat robots are protected by the HUMAN rights law.
