As a mom of three young boys the toughest reality hit me tonight, when I realized that I wont ever be able to protect my kids from everything. As much as I would love to keep them by my side every minute of everyday and be sure they are safe and out of harm-thats just not reality. I know there is going to be a time when they make decisions that arent smart or safe, they are going to drive cars, they are going to be presented with situations that peer pressure will be involved, and there will be situations where I tell them one thing and they are going to do the exact opposite of what I said. As parents, all we can do is teach them and encourage them to make good decisions. Each day I have with my boys is a blessing and sometimes its easy to get frustrated and irritated but then I remember that life can change in the blink of an eye and I will appreciate every moment I have with my children. Tonight, when you put your kids to bed, forget about the mess they made or the fights they had with their sibling and just hug them extra tight.
