As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you - TopicsExpress

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem. (Isaiah 66:13) Dearly beloved, Lord Jesus chose 12 persons to be His disciples (Luke 6:13). All the 12 of them were unique in character. They were with Him for nearly 3 ½ years. Finally, one among them betrayed Him (Luke 22:3- 6). Another disciple denied Him due to the fear of men (Luke 22:55-60). At a particular point, all the disciples deserted Lord Jesus (Matthew 26:56). But He loved all of them till the very end. He was crucified, buried and on the third day He rose up again. Even after His resurrection, He appeared to them and proved that He was alive. Before His ascension to heaven, He assured His disciples that He would send His Holy Spirit to comfort them (Acts 1:3-9). Today, He is seated at the right hand of His Father (Romans 8:34). As promised by Him, He filled everyone who gathered together and prayed at the upper room with His Holy Spirit. The disciples of Lord Jesus who were shattered by His absence were comforted by the Holy Spirit. Peter who denied Lord Jesus began to preach the Gospel with great courage and confidence. Nearly 3000 people were drawn into the fold of Christ through his very first sermon (Acts 2:41). People were healed from various diseases when his shadow fell upon them (Acts 5:15,16). The Lord who filled Peter with His Holy Spirit is willing to do the same for everyone who seeks Him faithfully. When the Holy Spirit comes into your heart, all your fears will vanish because, “the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (I John 4:4). Yes, the Lord shall be with you and deliver you from all your fears. He will fill you with His divine wisdom and grant you His riches in heaven. He will strengthen your wearied heart and establish you in Christ. The Holy Spirit Himself will protect you from the onslaughts of the devil. The Lord says, “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem” (Isaiah 66:13). God is our Comforter. He will have compassion on you and comfort you just as a mother comforts her child. He will strengthen you and give rest to your weary soul. Prayer: Loving Lord Jesus, You are my Comforter. I trust in You. I cry out to You for your mercy. Please have compassion on me and comfort me just as a mother comforts her child. Turn my sorrow to joy. Strengthen me and give rest to my weary soul. In Your matchless name I pray. Amen.
