As a new member of this group, for some reason I am unable to - TopicsExpress

As a new member of this group, for some reason I am unable to comment on posts and would just like to point out a few things. Mike Harris, I am one of those selfish strikers. My contractual hours as a senior social worker are 37:5 per week or 8:30 till 5 Monday to Friday, remove if you will my lunch from this. However I rarely finish work before 6 to 6:30pm, and rarely am able to take lunch away from my desk. I do not get paid over time, before anyone decides to quip that I should work harder to finish on time think on. If I am dealing with an allegation of child abuse, I am there till the situation is made as safe as can be. This could be 10, 11pm at night. Remember I dont get overtime, we and I do this as we have a responsibility to ensure children at risk of significant harm are protected. I would also just like to say before we have the baby p comments, unless you have one iota of understanding of child protection dont go there. Duncan Campbell over feeding a child is abuse, providing your child a diet that is based on McDonalds and rubbish is not in the best interest of the childs health needs and I have previously worked with children on the child protection register partly due to their parents neglectful diet which has caused obesity, so over feeding is not acceptable Gerald Rose. Also Catherine Bonera social services do not have any authority to remove a child from its parents care. They can only be removed by section 20 consent, police powers of protection or a court order. Oh and while I am being selfish asking for a couple of quid extra for the job I studied long and hard to do and have to continue to study yearly to enable me to continue do so as social workers registration depends on continued professional development I am also losing a days pay just to be taken seriously.
