As a “smart ship”, the champagne was sent on its way to crash over the bows by an iPad. But the ceremony today aboard Royal Caribbeans brand new cruise ship Quantum of the Seas was still one giant party. Godmother Kristin Chenoweth, an award winning actress and stage performer, officially named the giant cruise ship at Cape Liberty, New Jersey, marking the official arrival of arguably the most anticipated ship of the year. Royal Caribbean chairman Richard Fain said: Our ships are built to be 1/3 traditional, 1/3 evolutionary and 1/3 revolutionary. And there were performances by the New York Police Department bagpipes and drums as well as a performance by singer-songwriter Clint Holmes. Super fast WiFi, robotic bartenders, skydiving, bumper cars, futuristic entertainment, virtual balconies and Jamie Oliver are just some of Quantum’s firsts.
