As government ministries and departments reeled from effects of underfunding, Malawi News has established that state residences ran a bill of slightly over half a billion Kwacha within the last two months of former President Joyce Banda’s administration. Documents sourced from Treasury indicate that State House accrued bill of K506, 707, 595 with various suppliers. The documents show that State House staff had meals at an eatery in Lilongwe to the tune of K5, 384, 338. During the same period, State House bought motor vehicle tyres at a cost of K5, 854, 125.
