As many of you may already be aware, I have decided to run for - TopicsExpress

As many of you may already be aware, I have decided to run for Madison School Board. I have made this decision for a few reasons. First and foremost, my three daughters are now all enrolled at Madison Elementary. My wife and I have been very happy with their education thus far. The school has been well run and the staff has been fantastic. The most recent report card from the state was disappointing for such an excellent system. But it demonstrates the weaknesses that still exist. It is my goal to not only continue the superior foundation, but to work to improve these shortcomings. Secondly, Madison has been very fortunate with its financial situation thus far, but our hardships are coming. We have a significant budget crisis looming in the next 1-2 years. While the residents of Madison Township are very supportive of their schools, I think a levy in this economic environment will be very difficult to pass and should be an absolute last resort. We must work to avoid this crisis as long as possible, affording time for local and state economies to improve and thus bring in more revenue without increasing taxes. And lastly, I believe I posess the skills necessary to help guide our system through these challenging times. Managing my own medical practice, much like the school system, I have experience with shrinking revenues while maintaining quality. I am also familiar with reporting measures and attaining goals set by government agencies. I have personally handled employee benefits, insurance company contract negotiations and purchasing of equipment. I am hostig a “Meet the Candidate/Mohawk tailgate” picnic Friday, September 27th from 4-7 at the Madison Township Park. We will supply food and soft drinks and afford anyone interested an opportunity to meet me, talk and ask questions. Anyone living in Madison Township is welcome. Afterwards we can go cheer our Mohawks on to victory over Milton-Union. Madison Township is a great community with a strong foundation in our schools. And I will work to keep and improve that strength.
