As much as I believe Australia Day should be changed and this day - TopicsExpress

As much as I believe Australia Day should be changed and this day given to the aboriginals for Aboriginal Sovereignty Day, does NOT mean I dont love my country, it actually is saying the opposite. To truly celebrate Australia we must change the date from the invasion (only nation to do this) . So much hate is pushed everywhere on this day, and a fair few boys and girls have emailed me about complete tearing me apart and saying horrible things and someone even told me I should of been slaughtered like them. Which has kinda made me feel like my point is even stronger. We have Tony Abbott for our indigenous minister, there is no education on the matter that we are the only country that celebrates the invasions from the White Man to the natives. All other nations have their own day to be proud about. Why cant we change the date and do the same? Why cant the youth understand its not about how long ago this happened so why is it our fault..we can make this okay, its about change and giving understanding, and moving forward, perspective from their eyes. The lost children and more. In the 1960s it was still law that Aborigines were considered animals by the flora fauna act. It really wasnt that long ago, and its still happening to this day in other ways. Are we too scared to fight for whats right? Is ignorance to blame or what really is the problem? The government? Feel free to come over to my house today anyone, My housemate is having a get together jam and we will be blasting the top100, and talking about things like #changethedate and #straya and seeing both sides of the spectrum. For certain we wont be celebrating the founding of Australia as to me that is NOT what today is about. In the end, this is just my own heartfelt opinion. Dont feel threatened Australians.
