As one of two United States Consular Wardens for the island of Bonaire, it is my responsibilitiityto help Americans who have problems while living or vacationing here. I also am currently being considered for the local Victim Assist Program sponsored by the local government. This involves having a native English speaker help with folks who need assistance whatever the situation. Wednesday I received an email on my concierge web site, bonairehelpdesk from a group of Americans who had their accommodations robbed and had lost not only personal items but their passports as well. I was able to advise them how to resolve the problem and put them in touch with the US Vice Consul who assured them it would not be a problem to return home on Saturday afternoon. What amazed me is that these folks asked where they could donate their un opened food when they left! After the trauma of being robbed and having money, Passports, etc. stolen, they wanted to donate to the less fortunate folks here on Bonaire! I told them to pass by the International Bible Church in Hato since we have an active food outreach program. I had the good fortune to be at the Church this morning am met Karen and Scott when the dropped of two hug bags of food! What more is there to say but God Bless them for their kindness and caring.
