Ask your self, what is the issue/long-term goal of the cross, Is the line you are pondering using in-line with established line? Or is the new genetics to diverse to meld with established line? So the line has been chosen to facilitate the process. I like to use a new rooster over established hens then breed back to only hens from that cross to established rooster.
