As we approach the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, we ask everyone to remember, the service men and women stationed around the world, who are making it possible for us to be safe at home with our families and friends, as we enter this holiday season. In the spirit of gratitude, the Student Veterans of America (SVA), Saint Michael’s College chapter is sponsoring an effort here on campus, to send much-needed food and personal hygiene items to our troops, who will not be home for the holidays. The SVA members will be sending our donated items to those troops who have the greatest need. The items most requested items are: peanut butter, beef jerky, cans of Chef Boyardee products (see the many varieties at chefboyardee), drink mixes (MIO, Crystal Lite, Minute Maid, etc.), baby wipes, and foot powder. Therefore, when you are shopping this week or next for your Thanksgiving meal, please remember to include some of these items in your cart. If you would like to include a holiday card, I am sure it would be greatly appreciated. The target date for mailing the boxes is Wednesday, December 4th, so please bring your contributions to the Wilderness Program Office, Room #204 in Alliot, no later than Monday, December 2nd (when we return from the Thanksgiving break) so there will be time to get the items sorted and packed.
