As you know, research has no boundaries but it do have a foundation for each theory and approach. You can have pure quantitative or qualitative of having both as mixed/multi method. Having more than one theories, approaches/methods/techniques/strategies/design is triangulation. You even can have pure theory testing (deductive) or theory building (inductive) or even have both if your research needed it. Research can be done in so many ways as long as you hold on to the right foundation of theories & approaches. As you wrote your report it called define-justify-defend. Research is indeed a remarkable beauty from within.
